§ 26-5. Acquisition of lots.

  • (a)

    Any person who is an immediate family member, defined as "decedent's spouse, brothers, sisters, parent, legal guardian, grandparent, children, grandchildren," of any person already interred in a town-operated cemetery who desires to acquire a lot within the same cemetery, if one is available, shall apply to the public works director, and upon payment of the interment fee, which is based upon a schedule to be approved by the commissioners and kept on file for public inspection in the office of the public works director, and a deed of interment upon completion of all forms being signed.

    (b)

    The receipt shall stand as a valid permit for interment and the process of preparing a deed of interment. No person shall be interred in a town-operated cemetery without a valid permit and deed of interment. The town shall record each deed of interment in the county registry.
