§ 62-151. Powers, duties.

  • The powers and duties of the parks and recreation advisory committee shall be to:

    (1)

    Adopt bylaws under which it shall operate.

    (2)

    Plan and recommend by regular and special reports to the board of commissioners such action as it may consider appropriate to create and develop a program of recreational activities and events, and the creation and development of an adequate and complete system of athletic activities, parks, playgrounds, recreation centers and facilities.

    (3)

    Consult with the board of commissioners concerning the supervision, organization and management of parks, playgrounds, recreation centers, play fields, and similar facilities in order that the town may properly develop and maintain community recreation programs.

    (4)

    Cooperate with any individuals, firms, organizations and governmental bodies, as appropriate, interested in public and community athletics, parks and recreation.

    (5)

    Submit recommendations to the parks and recreation director to assist him in the preparation of the parks and recreation department's annual budget request for consideration, to be presented for consideration by the board of commissioners.

    (6)

    Neither the committee nor any member or person representing the committee shall incur any financial liability in the name of or on behalf of the town.

    (7)

    Render its monthly committee minutes to the board of commissioners.

    (8)

    Carry out such other duties and functions as the board of commissioners shall direct.
