§ 30-1. Purposes.

  • The purposes of this chapter are to set forth the authority and responsibility of the town in prevention of, preparation for, response to and recovery from natural or manmade disasters or hostile military or paramilitary action and to:

    (1)

    Reduce vulnerability of people and property of the town to damage, injury, and loss of life and property;

    (2)

    Prepare for prompt and efficient rescue, care and treatment of affected persons; and

    (3)

    Provide for cooperation of activities relating to emergency and disaster mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery among agencies and officials of the state, county and local governments, and with similar agencies and officials of the federal government, with interstate organizations, and with other private and quasi-official organizations.
