§ 26-14. Disinterment or removals.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to disinter any human remains for any plot or premises within the town-operated cemetery without first obtaining a permit for disinterment/reinterment from the county health department or such other agency as required by state law. A copy of the authorization permit shall be provided to the public works director prior to removal of any remains. Disinterment shall be accomplished in compliance with state statutes, county regulations and local ordinances.

    (b)

    The funeral home director or requesting party shall be responsible for all costs associated with the disinterment and restoration of the removal site subject to inspection by the public works director.
