§ 10-140. Transfer of cats and dogs.

  • (a)

    When ownership of a dog or cat is transferred within the county's jurisdiction, the new owner will have 30 days to obtain a new privilege license for the animal.

    (b)

    When ownership of a dog which has been declared dangerous or potentially dangerous under article IV of this chapter is transferred within the county's jurisdiction, the previous owner shall within three business days notify the animal control department and provide the name and address of the new owner. The new owner shall:

    (1)

    Immediately register the dog with the animal control department; and

    (2)

    Ensure that the requirements of this chapter for maintaining a dangerous or potentially dangerous dog are complied with prior to the dog being relocated to the new owner's property.
